3rd GRADE

Third graders develop a firm understanding of academic, social, and spiritual developmental needs of eight to nine-year-old children. Students continue to develop comprehension skills through our reading program.  Critical thinking is emphasized through analysis, group discussion that focuses on problem-solving and open-ended questions that require a deeper understanding of the text. Students will expand their narrative and expository writing skills through a variety of formal and informal writing assignments. All subjects are taught explicitly through a biblical lens and opportunities to share their faith journey are provided in the classroom.  Third graders have opportunities to take part in Music (including learning the recorder), Art, PE, and Media Lab. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities are integrated throughout the curriculum.
