5th GRADE

This year reflects the further development of independent reading, critical thinking, and analyzing information. Literature is used for more discussion on academic and social development themes.  The math program extends students’ understanding of numeration, operations, application, and problem-solving in preparing for 6th grade and middle school. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) units are the strength of the 5th-grade curriculum.  In Social Studies, fifth-grade students study United States History. The development of positive study skills is taught and established in academic programs. Goals in this area include student self-management skills, time management skills, and strategies for making wise choices. Students at this age are increasingly aware of the world around them and our goal is to encourage students to begin to define not only who they are but whose they are based on God’s Word. Bible curriculum is taught and implemented daily along with daily worship and devotion time.
