Each year, Lakeland Christian Academy music students look forward to many fun and meaningful performance opportunities!

Band and choir students eagerly participate in four exciting concerts scheduled throughout the year. “Praise and worship” is the emphasis of the Fall Concert as students celebrate God through mostly contemporary and upbeat musical selections. The Fine Arts Christmas Concert brings music, art, and theater students together for a celebration of the true meaning of Christmas mixed with traditional holiday favorites. March is “Music in Our Schools Month” which combines elementary and secondary band, choir, and chimes students. Past themes have included “Music Around the World” and “All-American Music.” The year ends with the greatly anticipated Fine Arts Showcase and Pops Concert. Band students especially enjoy popular movie themes and choirs will typically sing pop or musical medleys. Themes from past performances have included various Disney movies and pop songs from the 1940s and 1970s – complete with costumes and a little bit of choreography!

Music students may also participate in the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble events in January and February. Bands and choirs have also recently performed in chapels for elementary students and provided music at Grace Village and other community events.

In the classroom, students experience the enjoyment of using their God-given musical abilities to rehearse and perform a wide variety of songs for others to enjoy as well. Each rehearsal is designed not only with a goal to perfect the music but also as a way to bond students together to love God and to love and appreciate music.
