After enduring an unusual senior year and waiting patiently to walk across the stage in their cap and gowns, we are so proud of our hardworking seniors. Since only close family could attend commencement, we are sharing the awards our seniors received. We are proud of their accomplishments and cannot wait to see where they go from here! Way to go, Cougars!

Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship and Award
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess good citizenship qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. These students are selected by their teachers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree. Once a student is chosen as the DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay. Each chapter chooses a scholarship winner from among the entries. LCA’s 2020 DAR Good Citizen won the scholarship for our local chapter.

This award is unique to Lakeland Christian Academy and is given to the senior or seniors who best exemplify Paul’s advice to Timothy in First Timothy 4:12 which says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” This year we selected one young man and one young lady to receive the Timothian Award. The recipients received a medallion and presented a speech at graduation.

Lakeland Christian Academy Cougar Excellence Award
The LCA Cougar Excellence Award is the highest award that LCA bestows upon a graduate. The recipient of this award represents the best qualities of an LCA education. To receive this award a student must have completed all credits required for a Core 40 education and must have attended LCA for at least two years. Students are considered based on eleven different areas which include: spiritual, critical thinking, leadership, academics, foreign language, fine arts, extracurriculars, resilience, interpersonal, attendance, and challenging coursework. Lakeland teachers have scored each student in these areas to determine the recipient of the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougar Award. The recipient received a medallion, a scholarship for $2000, and presented a speech at graduation.
