Planned gifts refer to any gifts given as part of a donor’s estate or financial planning and can come in the form of real estate, life insurance, cash, personal property, and gifts of equity. These types of gives have many substantial benefits for both the donor and the recipient, like expanding the giving capacity for the donor while avoiding capital gains. These gifts also ensure the sustainability of LCA into the future.
Donors who are over 70 ½ have a unique opportunity to donate through their IRA. By donating through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA, you will satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Normally, you would have to pay taxes on the money you take out of your IRA, but when it is given as a donation through a QCD, it is not taxable up to $100,000.
