BUILDING CAMPAIGN
The Project
LCA’s goal has always been to have all students and staff on one campus in Winona Lake. While this goal has been expedited, we see many benefits to bringing all students together at once. This facility will be roughly 30,000 square feet of education space to house students age 2 years old to third grade. Our Early Learning Academy will be able to nearly double in size to help meet the need for childcare in the community. We will offer parent education nights, vestibular training, and year-round childcare for the community.
In Kosciusko County alone, there is a shortage of nearly 1,500 seats in early childhood education – that means one out of every three children ages zero and five are not able to obtain an education during these crucial developmental years.
Launchpad, Kosciusko County’s Early Learning Coalition, reports that the need is especially great for excellent childcare options for ages zero and two years old. A child who is unable to attend an early learning program either due to lack of availability or financial constraints is missing out on vital social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills that are developed through these programs. Our expanded ELA program in this new facility will directly fill a childcare void in our community.
The collaboration between older and younger LCA students when we share one campus will be an invaluable experience for both generations of students. Our preschoolers will be able to tangibly see what great leadership looks like in their fellow LCA mentors as they serve in their classrooms, after-school programs, and clubs. This facility’s purpose goes well beyond the physical structure as it allows for meaningful relationships and growth within our culture to take place.
Our Why
Our world is challenging for people of all ages— especially young people. As Christians, we are called to nurture young people to live a fully engaged life, grounded by critical thinking and a deep faith that guides their learning, career, family, friends, and future. This is the mission that was established by our founders in 1974 when they saw a need for a Christian high school in our community. 50 years later, we are even more emboldened to accomplish this mission.
These goals are Lakeland Christian Academy’s driving purpose. Young people are our “why”. Our graduates are essential to making our world a better place—and the world needs them. LCA is becoming an even better Christian academic institution for our region’s young people and families— and the future. But we can’t do it alone. You and others can join LCA to make new futures possible.
Cost & Timing
Total cost of the project is $8,000,000. Our goal is to raise $4,000,000 toward this goal, followed by prudent borrowing of any remaining funds. LCA aims to open its doors in this new facility for the 2026-2027 school year.
