Full Circle Impact: Susan Griffith
Shortly after LCA’s founding, Susan Griffith began her career teaching in the 8th grade classroom. Fast forward 48 years and you will find her back in LCA’s 8th grade classroom; however, Susan lived a lot of life between those two classroom experiences. When Susan began teaching her very first 8th grade class, she knew right away she wanted to stay with them until they graduated five years later, and that is exactly what she did. During those five years, Susan and her husba

Around the World (And Back Again): Kris Calizo Alumni Story

Even today, not only is Kris' picture prominently displayed in the LCA Hall of Fame, but you will also find her behind the desk in the front office as she manages all the nooks

SGO Program: Deeper than a Donation
“Sending our kids to LCA was the easy part of our schooling decision. It was the financial aspect that left us wondering whether or not we could make the jump to providing our kids with a faith-based education. We were prayerful in our approach and delighted to learn that there was a scholarship opportunity available to us through SGO! Their generosity is what enabled us to follow through and enroll our kids!” -LCA Family that received an SGO Scholarship Following God’s pro

Overcoming Obstacles - LCA's ILEARN Scores are a Testament to Incredible Teachers
Few things cause us to reflect on our lives, our jobs, our performance, our values, and our priorities like testing. Over the last year we have all been tested and stretched. The pressures created or magnified by COVID were unprecedented in the educational setting. During such pressure, as a school, it’s difficult to gauge how you’re doing—how well, despite a pandemic, you are teaching, developing, and growing your students. Via ILEARN testing, the state has provided schools

Little Minds Learning Big Concepts - STEAM Curriculum at the Preschool Level
“Who remembers what happens when we put vinegar and baking soda together?” A chorus of little voices yells, “A reaction!!!” “That’s right. We know that a REACTION takes two things and makes something new out of them. And when baking soda and vinegar play together, they play loud! We can use our senses to make all kinds of OBSERVATIONS: we HEAR the fizz and SEE the bubbles and SMELL the stinky vinegar and FEEL the foam.” You might assume that a science lesson with this many vo

The Benefits of Early Childhood Education
As parents, we always want to give our children the tools they need to succeed in life. We want to give them a leg up, a head start, a boost into their next stage of life. There are countless opportunities that parents have to do this, some beginning as early as infancy. And of course, everyone has their opinion on what works best and is eager to share it. But let’s face it, every child is responds differently, every child develops differently, every child learns differently

Welcome to the 2020 School Year: We are in this Together!
It is hard to believe that we have been in this “COVID-era” for nearly 6 months already. It seems like just yesterday we were entering the initial 2 week hiatus of in-class education. Though traditional schooling had been halted, our vocabulary broadened to include phrases like social distancing, flattening the curve, asymptomatic, and quarantining. There is no question that our world was turned upside down within a matter of weeks. As we look toward the start of school in j

2020 LCA All School Awards
Despite the unusual ending to the school year, we are incredibly proud of our students and how strongly they performed throughout the year – whether that meant sitting at a desk in the classroom, or at their kitchen table at home. Each year, we honor students who stand out in each discipline, those who achieve high academic status, and those who show exemplary and Christ-like character. Usually, we all gather in the Cafetorium to honor and celebrate our students’ hard work. E

Why a Christian Education?
It was what our children were not learning that really began to convict me. My wife, Gladine, and I had our three children in a public elementary school. We assured ourselves that our children were getting a good education. After all, most of the teachers our children had were professing Christians. We couldn’t imagine that these teachers would deliberately teach anything that would be overtly “anti-Christian.” These were good solid Christians educating our three young ones.
